  1. OK...gulp...Is anyone else open to re-considering our name options? I have a tendency to speedily slur through it when inviting others or sharing about our church. Just being super honest=) If everyone else is content I would like to know but just wondering if others also share my sentiment and don't know how to say it? Just do not feel like it fits us or explains us at all. OK. Done!

  2. I'm not the biggest fan of Riverside (or as Brandon Auten calls us--Creekbank, Lakeside, Riverbend, or Riverbanks). But the name was chosen before I was here and I think we need to stick with it...for practical reasons. Renaming at this point would hurt the little bit of name recognition we have and we would have to start from scratch with our church logo, website, etc. Plus, I don't know many churches whose name explains what they're all about...too difficult to do in a word or two.

  3. suggest that we do things w/ the website (& business cards, etc.) that speak more to the name... a scripture / quote / pic? what sayest yall?

  4. I totally get that Josh. I am sure some actually find it ridiculous that we would discuss article I. =) I do, however, feel we are still very early in the life of the church and it prob wouldn't be a huge deal to change it in the long run. Having said that if all are content I do think the logo ties the name in nicely. Like Dor's idea of a scripture that ties it together. Talked about this when we chose the name. Maybe Ps 1:3 or Jer 17:8? Maybe that will just help it make sense to us and to others checking us out? Not that a name has to but it just feels so random to me. Cool with whatever, really! Just thinking out loud since this is an appropriate forum for that...I think?

  5. What do others think about this? We need to file something with the SC Secretary of State with our name indicating we are a non profit corporation asap, so gauging the rest of the group's temperature would be super helpful.

  6. My vote is we leave the name as is for now. What I haven't heard is any compelling alternative. If we have something really good, then I say we vote at that time. In the meantime, I agree with Dorothy that we should have something at least on our website connecting the name with Columbia and Scripture.
